My name is Katherine Sinclair – I’m the Social Media Assistant here at Coxwood History Fun Park. We are very excited for some changes in our 2015 season.
To begin with, our historic park is joining the 21st century! I’ve been given a brand-new office here in the Visitors’ Centre, to go with my new position. Starting this year, Coxwood History Fun Park will be on Facebook and Twitter…and I’m really, really hoping that Management lets me start a podcast as well.
One of the most thrilling additions for the season is our newly-opened Opium Den. This cozy little space beneath the General Store has been refitted to portray a functioning, mid-1800s Opium Den. Staffed by our own Prudence, Temperance, Chastity, and Modesty, this will definitely be one of the park’s must-see attractions!
We also have a new interactive programme in the Gentleman’s House: “Under Where? Ha Ha, We Just Made You Say Underwear. But Seriously, Let’s Learn About Victorian Lingerie.” Run by the bubbly and charming Felicity, this programme will run Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 1:00 pm. Get there early, and don’t forget your drawers!
Batty for brie? Gaga for gorgonzola? Crazy for cheddar? This summer, Dougal the Blacksmith will be leading a series of workshops on artisan cheeses. Learn about cheese selection, production, pairing, and self-defence. Space is limited, so book early to avoid disappointment.
Harry the Silversmith is taking a leave of absence this year, following his unfortunate scuffle with the Unspeakable Horror in the Doctor’s House. Sadly, this means that our Silversmith Shop will be closed for the remainder of the 2015 season. However, we will be offering extra apprenticeships through our Blacksmith’s Shop, and displaying some of Harry’s finest pieces in the Doctor’s House parlour.
It’s going to be an exciting summer! We can’t wait to see you all!
